Entitled 'In Gardens II', … Read more This etching by Ruth Kerkovius (1921-2007) is a lovely still life of flowers in a garden. Entitled 'In Gardens II', the work is one of a very limited edition of only 25. The colors are soft blues and greens. The color of the mat in the main photo and in the close-ups is the most accurate.

Ruth Kerkovius was born in Latvia in 1921. She received her early training in Munich, Germany, working in theatre Costume History and Design, and in painting before she moved to the United States. Once in New York she studied at the Art Students League, the School of Visual Arts, the Pratt Graphic Art Center under Frasconi, and then continued at Pratt on a fellowship to work under Michael Ponce de Leon.

Her work is in the collections of the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Library of Congress, The National Gallery of Art, the University of Chicago, and Wesleyan University. See less
