Pair of chairs realized by yngve ekstrom for ese mobler ab sweden in 1960s. Bentwood frame, painted wood finish and upholstered seats with back cushions. A refined pair of “circle” chairs designed by swedish modernist yngve ekström and produced by ese möbler ab in the 1960s. These chairs exemplify the clarity, lightness, and human-centered philosophy that define scandinavian modern design. The circular backrest frame, formed in a continuous bentwood ring, encloses a rhythmic arrangement of slender vertical spindles that radiate upward from the seat, creating an airy yet structured silhouette. The gently inclined back provides ergonomic support while maintaining a sculptural presence. Each chair is raised on four tapered legs, subtly splayed for stability and elegance. The frames are finished in white, offering a crisp contrast to the turquoise upholstered seat and back cushions. The vivid upholstery enhances the graphic quality of the design and underscores its mid-century character. Ekström’s work is celebrated for combining craftsmanship with democratic design principles, and the “circle” model stands as a particularly graceful example—light in appearance yet structurally sound, suitable for both dining and occasional seating. Vintage condition consistent with age and use. Minor wear, surface marks, and small abrasions to the painted finish. Upholstery shows light signs of use. Structurally stable and ready for continued use. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
