Mahogany/stained hardwood case, brass number keys fittings, with glass display window and steel internal mechanical components. A beautifully preserved antique mechanical cash register produced by società anonima registratori di cassa national, the italian branch of the renowned american national cash register company (ncr). The brass plaque indicates the rome agency, corso umberto i, attesting to its italian commercial distribution. This example features a richly grained mahogany (or mahogany-veneered) wooden case with sculptural curved side housings and a prominent external flywheel. The front is fitted with circular brass-topped number keys arranged in vertical columns, typical of early 20th-century mechanical registers. The upper display window shows totals in lire, confirming its original use in italy prior to the euro era. A hand crank mechanism on the side activates the internal mechanical system, while the base incorporates a lockable cash drawer. The warm patina of the wood, together with the aged brass details and original typography, gives the piece strong decorative and historical appeal.
