A handsome period Regency mahogany sideboard dating to 1810 Stamped Gillows on the top of the drawer
The top has a gently shaped front and displays attractive figured mahogany with a rich warm colour and polished finish
The front is arranged with a central drawer above a shaped arched kneehole, flanked by two deep cupboard compartments, each fitted with lion mask ring handles and decorative escutcheons
The elegant proportions and restrained neoclassical styling reflect the influence of Gillows period design
Gillows of Lancaster and London was one of the most celebrated English furniture makers of the 18th and early 19th centuries, renowned for producing high-quality mahogany furniture for aristocratic houses across Britain
The sideboard stands on slender turned and reeded legs terminating in brass caps and castors, giving the piece a refined and balanced appearance
