Rocking chair designed in the 1940s by Yngve Ekström for ESE Möbler, a Swedish company founded by Ekström and his brother Jerker. The bentwood frame creates a continuous, light profile, with arched armrests that accompany the movement of the runners, expressing a refined synthesis of technique and form. The seat and backrest are made of woven textile ribbon, likely a cotton or mixed-fiber ribbon, typical of Scandinavian production of the period. The fabric is in excellent condition and enhances the graphic texture of the weave. Yngve Ekström was a central figure of Swedish modernism: his work is grounded in the idea of democratic, functional, and accessible furniture, capable of combining comfort, quality craftsmanship, and industrial production. This rocking chair fully reflects his philosophy, with organic lines, structural balance, and a simple yet welcoming aesthetic.
