Captivating vintage rabbit sculpture cast in heavy iron with a warm bronze-tone finish. The reclining hare has long ears laid back and softly modeled fur, closely resembling the naturalistic animal bronzes made in Japan during the Meiji period. This example is a mid-20th century Japanese decorative interpretation of those earlier pieces, dating to the 1960s. Its substantial weight and dark brown patina give it the look of aged bronze. A lovely accent for a bookshelf, coffee table, or tucked into a vignette with plants and antique books.
