A striking and comfortable Antique American Tiger Oak Morris Reclining Chair, dating to the early 1900s and beautifully embodying the craftsmanship of the Arts & Crafts era.
This classic Morris lounge chair features a solid oak frame showcasing dramatic tiger oak grain (quarter sawn oak), a hallmark of high-quality American furniture produced around the turn of the century. The bold grain patterns shimmer across the arms, legs, and frame, giving the chair exceptional warmth and visual depth.
The design is both sculptural and functional. Wide, substantial arms provide a comfortable resting place, while the chair stands on distinctive carved claw feet, adding a refined decorative detail rarely found on many Morris chairs.
A push-button reclining mechanism allows the back to adjust smoothly to multiple positions, making this an ideal reading chair, library chair, or lounge chair. Morris chairs were among the earliest adjustable reclining chairs and quickly became a centerpiece of Arts & Crafts and Mission interiors.
