The sculpture is signed “Delabrièrre” for noted French animal sculptor Paul-Édouard Delabrièrre (1829–1912).

Delabrièrre was one of the leading artists of the French Animalier movement, celebrated for his highly realistic sculptures of wildlife and sporting subjects.

The bronze features a rich dark brown patina with warm highlights and strong modeling throughout. A classic sporting bronze ideal for a library, desk, or hunting lodge.
