The exterior is decorated with a continuous underglaze blue landscape (shanshui) rendered in an expressive, painterly style. The scene depicts a serene riverside village with traditional gabled houses nestled beneath towering, misty mountains. A scholar is visible crossing a stone arched bridge, while delicate willow and pine trees anchor the foreground against a backdrop of rolling hills and stylized clouds.

The reverse of the vase displays two vertical columns of calligraphy, which quote a famous poem by the Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai. The text translates to:

"The river city is like a painting; in the morning from the mountain, I gaze at the clear sky. Two waters sandwich a bright mirror; twin bridges fall like a slanting rainbow."

The glaze has a soft, creamy off-white tone with visible iron spots (pinpricks) and minor kiln firing imperfections, lending the piece a rustic, antique character. The contrast between the deep cobalt tones and the aged glaze highlights the traditional aesthetic of Chinese literati art.
