A fine quality antique Dutch silver heart shaped repousse work trinket box or tea caddy, by Rinze Jans Spaanstra, 1843-1896.

The heart shaped box circa 1880 and having a hinged lid with a pastoral scene of a farmer planting crops and a lady with a basket of produce. The sides of the box decorated with a maritime scene of sailors trading goods, to the other side is an architectural scene with a castle and church to the background and a horse and two figures to the foreground.
Even the base of the box has repousse design where the silver is hammered from the inside to create a design in relief, the base with a design of cows and a farmer in a bucolic scene.

The base is also hallmarked with pseudo silver marks for Rinze Jans Spaanstra who used an "MC" stamp for his pseudo marks, also stamped with Dutch 2nd standard mark with export key, Running animal.
