Elegant Art Deco dressing table produced in Germany in the late 1940s to early 1950s.
The piece reflects the transition from late Art Deco to early Mid-Century Modern design. It features beautifully figured burl walnut veneer with a rich tone and striking natural grain patterns.
The design combines architectural geometry with characteristic Streamline Moderne elements such as the softly curved side panel, sculptural plinth bases and the tall mirror with rounded corners.
The vanity includes a cupboard compartment for storage as well as glass-protected surfaces and an additional glass shelf beneath the mirror.
Furniture from this series carries a DEWO plaque ("Verband zur Förderung deutscher Wohnkultur"), a quality label used in post-war West Germany to mark furniture meeting certain design and craftsmanship standards.
The dressing table originally formed part of a bedroom ensemble together with matching bedside tables.
