The creation is of a bulbous … Read more Art Deco Period Gres Stoneware Vase by Belgian ceramist Roger Guérin from the 1930s. The creation is of a bulbous form terminating in a short neck finishing with a flaring rim. Beautiful mottled browns, beige, and blue glazing with a satin finish. The gres technique in pottery production entails a unique firing procedure which creates a dense and durable material.
Signed on the bottom: GUÉRIN in script and the model number 65/B (?).

Roger Guérin (1896-1954) was Belgian ceramist borned in the French speaking Wallon region of Belguim in provinse of Hainaut close to frontier of France. He started throwing pottery in 1918 signing his pieces R. Guérin until around 1925 and from then on with his last name. His pieces were produced in short runs.
Guérin exhibited at Paris Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in 1925 winning a medal with his entry.
Condition: Very Good, no issues. Wear consistent with age and use.
