Antique 20-volume collection of the works of Mark Twain, published by Harper & Brothers, New York and London in the early 1900s (circa 1906–1910) as part of the Harper’s Library Edition series.
This impressive matching set features beautiful deep red cloth hardback bindings with gilt lettering and decorative oval medallion designs on the spines, giving the books a classic antique library look that displays wonderfully on a shelf. Large matching sets like this are increasingly difficult to find intact and make striking décor for a study, library, office, or vintage-inspired interior.
The volumes are illustrated editions and contain many of Twain’s most celebrated travel writings, novels, essays, and stories.
Included titles in this 20 volume collection include:
• The Innocents Abroad (Vol. I & II)
• Sketches New and Old
• Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc (Vol. I & II)
• The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
• A Tramp Abroad (Vol. I & II)
• Following the Equator
• Roughing It (Vol. I & II)
• Tom Sawyer Abroad / Tom Sawyer Detective / Other Stories
• The American Claimant and Other Stories
• The Man That Corrupted Hadleyburg and Other Stories
• A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court
• The Gilded Age (Vol. I & II)
• Additional collected stories and essays by Mark Twain
Published by Harper & Brothers, these volumes represent an early 20th-century collected works printing of one of America’s most influential authors.
Condition reflects the age of the books, which are over 100 years old. The bindings show typical antique wear including edge fraying, fading to the cloth, and general shelf wear. The books remain solid and intact and display beautifully as a complete antique set.
This set is perfect for:
• vintage library décor
• classic study or office styling
• collectors of antique literature
• interior designers looking for authentic early 20th century books
• fans of Mark Twain and American literary history
