This vintage Hull Art Pottery bean pot features the iconic rich brown “drip glaze” finish that became a signature look in mid-century American kitchens. The rounded pot is accented by two small side handles and a fitted lid with a ribbed knob, and it retains its original ceramic serving stand.
Designed for the popular mid-century “oven-to-table” serving tradition, this Hull pottery vessel was intended to cook food directly in the oven and then be presented at the table using its matching ceramic stand. This style became widely popular in American homes during the 1950s and 1960s, reflecting the era’s casual entertaining and family-style dining.
The glossy glaze transitions beautifully from warm caramel tones near the rim to deep mahogany brown across the body, creating a classic Brown Drip finish with natural firing variations that make each piece unique.
The underside bears the impressed Hull Oven Proof USA mark, confirming production by the Hull Pottery Company of Crooksville, Ohio. Complete examples with the original stand are increasingly difficult to find and make a wonderful display for a vintage kitchen, farmhouse interior, or American pottery collection.
