Design Plus Gallery presents an Original Painting "Wings of Desire" by Victor Anufriev. The painting is made with gold gilt on canvas and shows a woman holding white dove in her lower body, symbolizing fertility The artist is a formidable and celebrated folk artist in the Russian region of Gorodets. Gorodets painting sprang from carved distaffs that were manufactured in villages nearby Gorodets town in the Nizhni Novgorod Region. Initially local craftsmen used the incrustation technique to ornament the distaffs. Gorodets artists traditionally paint genre scenes (merrymaking, tea drinking, riding the famous Gorodets horse), such as in Dance. The painting is encased in a thick golden frame and comes with a print out of its Certificate of Authorization.
