William Doezema for Mastercraft Attributed Hollywood Regency Neoclassical Sideboard. St. Louis decorator and furniture firm Edwin Pepper retailed this remarkable piece -- as they did many many Doezema Mastercraft pieces -- most likely in the early 1960s.. The label is from an era when phone numbers began with letters, like BUtterfield 8, but this was HEmpstead 2. Amazing walnut and burlwood. 80" w 20" d 31" h.
Bill Doezema served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II from 1941 to 1945. Along with his brother Charles, he founded the Mastercraft Furniture Co. in Grand Rapids in 1946. His creative mind, coupled with ideas inspired by world travel, generated an exquisitely beautiful line of furniture. He died in 2009 at the age of 92, survived by his wife of 66 years, Jeannette, and three children.
