Knife by Alvin Sterling. 1907 "Evangeline" pattern by Frederick Habensac. Faintly marked “Alvin Sterling” to the handle.
This would be a beautiful piece on its own, to serve with a homemade jam or apple butter at brunch. A weighty, quality, early 20th C. piece. If you're fortunate enough to have more pieces in this pattern, it would be a fairly rare and welcome addition to increase a collection. We love using special pieces in our regular, daily habits. Even the simple act of buttering a piece of toast becomes a little nicer when the heft and quality of sterling silver is involved.
Gently polished and now gleaming, with softened fluting and scrolled details, worn naturally from time and normal use. Great hand feel and weight.
Age wear to surface; Light oxidation
