Color serigraph on paper titled "Le Fiance" by Israeli artist Itzchak Tarkay. Published in 1990. Hand signed in pencil on the lower right with an annotation of 235/350 on the lower left. The composition depicts a seated female figure reclining on a blue upholstered chair beside a table with a vase of flowers. The scene is rendered in Tarkay’s characteristic style with simplified forms, patterned surfaces, and blocks of color including blue, yellow, and black. The figure’s relaxed pose and interior setting reflect the artist’s recurring theme of quiet domestic moments. Tarkay was known for figurative compositions that combined elements of modernism with influences from artists such as Matisse and Toulouse-Lautrec. His prints and paintings often depict elegantly dressed women in interior environments rendered with decorative color and line. A signed limited edition serigraph such as this provides collectors with an example of Tarkay’s recognizable figurative style from the late 20th century.
From a private collection. Dimensions: 51.5"h x 77.25"w x 2"d (framed). In very good condition.
