Hand signed in pencil on the lower right with an annotation of 235/350 on the lower left. Itzchak Tarkay (1935–2012) was an Israeli painter and printmaker known for figurative works depicting women in interior settings. Born in Subotica, Yugoslavia, he survived World War II before immigrating to Israel where he studied at the Avni Institute of Art and Design in Tel Aviv. Tarkay gained international recognition beginning in the 1980s, with his paintings and serigraphs exhibited widely in galleries and art fairs across Europe and the United States. His work has been included in numerous museum and private collections worldwide, and he became one of the most widely collected contemporary figurative artists of his generation. See less
