This small Murano glass geode bowl by Archimede Seguso was produced in Italy in the mid-20th century and exemplifies the refined experimentation of post-war Venetian glassmaking. Executed in translucent green and teal tones, the bowl is formed in a softened triangular shape with gently curved points, creating a compact yet sculptural presence. The piece is crafted using the sommerso technique, with layered tones of green and teal encased within clear crystal. This method creates subtle tonal shifts that change depending on the angle of view, lending depth and visual movement to the glass. The interior retains a smooth, lustrous finish, while the exterior walls are crisply defined, demonstrating a high level of control in both forming and finishing. The base is perfectly polished, allowing the bowl to sit cleanly on a surface while also revealing minor surface wear consistent with age and use. There are a few tiny firing flaws and bubbles visible within the glass, inherent to the production process and typical of Murano work of this period. These do not detract from the clarity or overall condition, which remains very good. Compact in scale, the bowl measures approximately 4 cm high, 10 cm wide, and 10 cm long (approximately 1.6 in high, 3.9 in wide, and 3.9 in long). It is well suited for use as a vide-poche or small catchall, or as a decorative object on a coffee table or dressing table, where its colour and form can be appreciated from multiple viewpoints. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
