This is not your typical silver plate dish.. made by Reed and Barton in 1947, this pattern was discontinued. It is called a sandwich plate and at 11.5”w, it could be put to so many uses. The rim is generously decorated. The outer rim is acanthus leaves and Reed and ribbon and the inner rim is pierced with swags and baskets of florals. The surface is indented in the middle so it could accommodate a bowl for serving condiments if needed.
The underside is stamped with the makers mark and pattern number 1706.
