The pattern is so rare that it does not appear in pattern books and may well have been an individual commission – it is a variant of the Kings Pattern with a rich mix of flowers and scrolls in the rococo style to both sides of the stem.
The service was made by Hunt & Roskell who were the holders of several royal warrants, including that of Queen Victoria and were the most prestigious London retailer from the mid-19th century through to the early 20th century. The company was first founded by Paul Storr who was the most important English silversmith of the Regency period. The stainless steel knife blades are engraved with the name of the other important London retailer, Garrard & Company.
