Very old, rare and impressive jewelry box or jewelry carrying case. Featuring terracotta with a plaster finish, this Spanish Colonial jewelry box, circa early to mid 1800s, has real presence and panache. Included as well is the original stand with zig-zag design. At almost 200 years old, this terracotta box is in remarkable shape. There is some light chipping around the top handle (as pictured), but otherwise no chips, cracks or significant damage. The top does not fit perfectly snug but does sit decently atop.
I love the glorious patina on this piece and the aged colors in hues of clay red, brown, black and sandy off-white. It's kind of mesmerizing to look at ... SO MUCH character and age on display. It looks incredible on it's own but is also fab for displaying plants, flowers or books.
Rare terracotta box measures 10" tall with the stand (8.5" tall without the stand). It's 8" wide and 5.5" deep.
