A stunning pair of heavy, solid glass bookends by the celebrated American art glass firm, Zellique Studios (Benicia, California). Created by master glass artist Joseph Morel in 2000, these pieces function as monumental, vertical bookends or paperweights.

Each bookend features a magical, encapsulated underwater "Aquarium" scene achieved through complex lampwork. Two vibrant tropical angelfish—striped in yellow, red, and blue—swim amidst tall, swaying strands of green sea grass and delicate white sea anemones. The scene is anchored by a branch of bright orange coral at the base and set against a textured, azure-blue background that suggests the depth of the ocean. The clear glass casing is thick and brilliantly polished, acting as a lens to magnify the internal details.

Markings:
Signature: Etched signature to the base: Zellique Studios JM 2000. (The "JM" indicates the hand of founder Joseph Morel) and M55BE58.
