An iconic example of Danish mid-century modern design, this floating top executive desk was Attributed to Johannes Sorth for Bornholm Møbelfabrik in the 1960s. Expertly crafted in warm, richly grained teak, the desk features Sorth’s signature architectural “floating” top — elevated above the case with open supports that create lightness and visual balance.
The asymmetrical storage configuration offers four dovetailed drawers, including three standard drawers and a larger file drawer on the right, ideal for organizing documents and office essentials. Each drawer is fitted with sculptural, recessed teak pulls that are seamlessly integrated into the façade, highlighting the refined craftsmanship and organic modern detailing characteristic of Danish design.
Raised on elegantly tapered legs, the desk maintains a sleek, minimalist silhouette while offering practical functionality. The teak grain flows beautifully across the drawer fronts and modesty panel, recently enhanced by a professional refinish. It presents in excellent refinished condition, with only minor signs of a past life consistent with age and use.
A superb collector-quality piece that works equally well as an executive desk, writing desk, or statement workspace.
