A tall English Gothic Revival bookcase, crafted in two parts and richly detailed throughout. The upper section is surmounted by a molded pediment above a pair of glass panel doors enclosing adjustable shelving and a fitted interior arrangement of small cupboards and drawers, including a central small cupboard for secure storage. Below, a pull-out surface provides additional functionality, resting over the lower cabinet fitted with two molded panel doors centered by carved medallions and enclosing a shelf within. The piece stands on a plinth base, its vertical emphasis and architectural detailing characteristic of the Gothic Revival taste. An imposing and practical example of English craftsmanship, offering both display and concealed storage in an elegant George III form.
