Rare meissen porcelain group from around 1870: married couple on a magnificent white rococo bed with gold-decorated rocaille ornamentation and delicate bird and insect paintings: the lady of the house wearing a ruffled bonnet and housedress on the daybed with a cup of cocoa and biscuits in her hands, next to her a side table with a sugar bowl and more biscuits, watching her husband sitting at her feet in his dressing gown with a nightcap and newspaper in his hand, who, looking over the foot of the bed, discovers the hidden lover barked at by the dog. Meanwhile, little cupid, the initiator of the story, hides in the far corner under the pillow with his love bow and arrow in his hands\. Extremely loving and elaborate design of the details. Designer: johann joachim kändler (1706 - 1775) chief sculptor at the meissen manufactory from 1742 to 1775. He is the most famous modeller meissen manufactory ever had and created famous series such as shepherd figurines, comedian's children, gardener children (with acier), paris town criers (with reinicke and meyer) , gallant figurines, etc. Kaendler designed this model circa 1771.
