A matched pair of decorative cast iron finials in the form of elongated pinecones. The surfaces retain traces of an original cream or white painted finish, now worn and softened by age, with areas of natural oxidation and rust throughout. The casting is well defined, with clearly articulated scales and a stylized calyx at the base. Solid and weighty, the pieces were likely intended for architectural or garden use such as gate posts, fence tops, or decorative elements. The pinecone motif has long been used in architectural ornament, valued for its balanced form and traditional associations with longevity and renewal.
