An elegant centerpiece desk (bureau plat) of refined Italian craftsmanship from around 1950. The piece recalls the Louis XVI style and features splendid herringbone parquetry workmanship that converges in a central diamond motif.
Details and Features:
Expandable: Equipped with two pull-out side drawers that significantly expand the work surface.
Capacity: Features a central drawer and two side drawers.
Aesthetics: Elegant fluted truncated pyramid legs that lend a sense of lightness to the structure.
Condition and Defects (See Photos):
The desk is an authentic piece from the 1950s and, as such, shows signs of aging that testify to its originality. In particular, the upper part of the top features:
Whisky stains and halos: There are two obvious opaque halos (likely caused by heat or past humidity) affecting the surface polish in the center and lower right quadrants.
Signs of use: Small surface scratches and slight wear to the finish due to normal use over time.
Note: The piece is structurally sound. Aesthetic defects on the top can be corrected with polishing or conservative restoration, or left as is as a sign of authentic "lived-in" condition.
