This antique … Read more An Italian two-drawer raised side chest, with veneered burl wood and inlay banding accents, from the 18th century. This antique cassettiera (chest of drawers) from Italy features a rectangular-shaped top with front having a serpentine shape, which continues down onto the two drawers housed within the case below, and delicately scalloped skirting across the front and each side. The drawers are each fitted with a pair Rococo pulls flanking an escutcheon at center, and each have beautifully veneered burl wood grain, with inlay banding about the perimeter which adds to the simple elegance of this piece. This chest is presented upon four curvy legs. Please note that there is some cracking to the wood at top (see photos for additional details). This 18th century Italian chest, with its soft lines, lovely burl veneer accents, and Rococo hardware, will make a useful decorative storage piece, great as a console chest in a foyer, living or bed room.
