This Alexander Calder very rare vintage 1972 Mid Century Modernist " Asymmetry " custom framed large fine art lithograph print is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The original fine art lithograph print is printed by the venerable Maeght Editeur, Paris. Printed in France in 1972 in an unnumbered limited edition. It features a Modernist artwork image titled " Asymmetry " created by the artist Alexander Calder.
This is a rare opportunity for true Calder and Mid Century Modernism fans and collectors, as this coveted image large fine art lithograph, printed in watermarked Arches France archival paper stock, is long out of print and very scarce to find.
Alexander Calder ( 1989 - 1976 ) was an American born Modernist artist. Although primarily known for both his innovative kinetic mobiles and monumental public sculptures, Calder also created important paintings, prints, theater set designs, jewelry design, tapestries, rugs, and political and commercial commissioned posters. Born into a family of artists, his work first gained attention in the 1920's in Paris, and was soon championed by The Museum of Modern Art New York, resulting in his first retrospective exhibition in 1943. His artistic talents were world renowned by the 1960's. Calder is credited to creating some of the most important Modernist art works of The Twentieth Century. Artworks by Calder are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
Visionary genius Aime Maeght opened his infamous art gallery The Galerie Maeght in 1945 in Paris France. Coinciding with the end of World War II and the return of many exiled artists back to France. The greatest international artists of the time exhibited at the gallery including Francis Bacon, Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Wasily Kandinsky, Ellsworth Kelly, Richard Lindner, Henri Matisse, Paul Rebeyrolle, Walasse Ting, among many others.
In addition to being a gallerist and art dealer, Aime and his son Adrien also founded Maeght Editeur which is recognized as one of the most important and influential publishers of lithographs, books, and fine art posters in the world, such as this exquisite lithograph print.
The rare out of print framed large format fine art lithograph print measures 30" W X 39 1/8" H X 1 3/4" D. The print measures 22 3/4" W X 32" H.
It is custom framed and expertly preserved, with UV protective plexiglass archivally presented in a float top hinge mounted presentation on a black conservation matt board, in a Contemporary Modern recessed beveled detailed matte eggshell finish black wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and some very light minor wear. It is brand newly custom framed and has never been displayed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price.
