Two of the garden's most titled residents, The Monarch Butterfly and Ladybug captured in these stylized "royal" portraits.
Hand painted in tones of sage green and burnished gold in a matte finish on heavy stoneware plates, they have a depth and patina that gives them added visual impact. Fleur de Lis and fig leaf swag drape the outer edge of the plates surrounding our noble subjects with pomp and circumstance befitting their stature.

The paintings, especially the backgrounds, have a deliberate … moreThe plates are in great vintage condition with no cracks or chips. The paintings, especially the backgrounds, have a deliberate layered and uneven use of color and texture and seem free of any major visible damage or flaws, with one possible exception. There is a spot to the right of one of the ladybug's that seems to vary more in color than in any other location on the plates. It isn't visually distracting when the plates in viewed in an environment, but I wanted to point it out. Please review all photographs carefully and zoom in for details.
