Brought to you from the home of one of the world’s largest Christmas Markets. This lithographed gingerbread cookie tin depicts historical sights in Nuremberg Germany. Decorated with multiple borders in relief of scrolls, leaves and flowers in gold on red. Has a hinged lid and the inside has a history of the city. The lid depicts an historical illustration of the Nuremberg Main Market (Hauptmarkt), as indicated by the German text on the front. These tins were originally sold filled with various types of gingerbread (Lebkuchen) and biscuits. They were released annually to hold traditional German Christmas cookies and are highly prized for their detailed illustrations. In excellent condition with a couple of tiny dimple dents, no rust, serious damage or repairs.
