It held flowers on the window sill for over 50 years. The winsome figure, maybe a child with jet black hair, is holding a fan beside a larger than life bamboo stalk that holds water for a flower. Her eyes are closed giving a tranquil, serene expression. The shirt is jade green the bamboo is a cream the fan, shoes and headband are terracotta and all are gilded with touches of gold. The maker’s mark on the bottom is an outline of a hand with “Japan” written on the thumb and “Hand Painted” written across the palm. It is an interesting and sweet little vase from another era.
