This is a really unusual pair of mid century modern low tufted three-legged triangle lounge chairs. The chairs are unsigned but were likely made in the United States in the 1960s. The low-slung triangular profile of these chairs are reminiscent of designs by Adrian Pearsall, Harvey Probber, and Kerstin Horlin-Holmquist.
The proportions are wild: super wide and yet so low. The lounge chairs measure 40” wide, 36” deep, and 31” tall with a 18” seat height. The detached down and feather filled seat cushion is nearly a right triangle. There are 3 legs! Three really interesting curved and tapered walnut legs. The back has a dramatic arch, swooping down and out into the arms. The attached back cushion is button tufted. Based on the light peach patterned fabric, the chairs look like they were reupholstered in the 1990s.
The mid-20th century lounge chairs are in very good vintage condition. The chairs are very well made and solid. The cushions are supportive. The feather and down seat is luxuriously plush. The newer upholstery fabric is overall very clean but there is discoloration on the arms, as well as other scattered areas. Scuffs and wear on the walnut legs. Please see photos for more details about the condition of the chairs.
