A glass Ateljé vase designed by artist Bertil Vallien (born 1938) for the Swedish glass company Kosta Boda. The vase is made from satin glass with colorful striping and a white bubble design with areas iridescent glass. The piece is signed “Boda BVallien Atelje 164” to the underside.
Bertil Vallien is a highly respected glass artist and designer. In the 1950s, he studied under Stig Lindberg at the art school Konstfack in Stockholm. Best known for his work at Kosta Boda, Vallien is celebrated for sand casted sculptures. Many of these sculptures have the repeated motif faces.
