A finely executed contemporary Pueblo pottery Vase by Darrin Aguilar of San Domingo Pueblo (now Kewa Pueblo), New Mexico. Hand-coiled and traditionally fired in red earthenware clay, the vessel is decorated in the classic Kewa black-on-cream palette, with bold matte black slip-painted geometric and feather-like motifs arranged in balanced horizontal registers.

The elegant shouldered form with flaring neck reflects ancestral Rio Grande pottery traditions, reinterpreted through a modern hand. The cream slip ground is beautifully contrasted by the deep black painted designs, while the softly burnished surface and carefully finished rim demonstrate a high level of craftsmanship. The underside is signed in black, “Darrin Aguilar – S.D.P.,” confirming the artist’s authorship and tribal affiliation.

Measuring approximately 8 inches high by 5 inches in diameter, the jar presents an ideal scale for shelf, pedestal, or cabinet display. In very good condition with only minor base wear consistent with age and handling, this piece is a fine example of contemporary Kewa pottery and a desirable addition to any collection of Native American or Southwestern art.
