A sculptural mid-century West German art pottery vase by Girmscheid, model 222, dating to the 1960s.
This striking form features a tall cylindrical neck rising from a rounded, ribbed base, finished in a rich earthy brown glaze with carved cream geometric banding. The incised decorative bands and rhythmic horizontal throwing lines are classic elements of West German modernist ceramics of the period.
The underside bears the impressed model number “222.”
A strong architectural piece that works beautifully in mid-century, organic modern, or minimalist interiors. Particularly striking displayed with tall branches or styled as a standalone sculptural object.
