Large Scale French Rococo Style Painting of an interpretation of L'Escarpolette (The Swing) After Jean-Honoré Fragonard. Restoration work done 2/92 by Art Restoration Lab at Gate House Galleries Inc. Inpainting/ varnish / lining (Label on back). Overall vibrant painting with some crazing, frame has some losses due to age. Very impressive presentable piece of art.
Jean-Honoré Fragonard (1732–1806) was a French painter and printmaker renowned for his exuberant, sensuous style that epitomized the late Rococo period. His works capture the elegance, intimacy, and playful eroticism of 18th-century French aristocratic life, influencing later generations’ understanding of Rococo aesthetics.
