Born in the Veneto region (Venice) of northeastern Italy in the early 19th century, crafted in luxurious Rococo taste, profusely hand carved and intricately decorated, having an octagonal platform top with undulating molded scalloped openwork apron, rising on a well shaped, sculpted, and moved single column standard, with dramatic theatrical movement, serpentine sculptural form, all adorned in an abundance of ornamental Rocaille elements, including exuberant scrolling curves, counter-curves, elegantly sophisticated silhouette of asymmetry, stylized acanthus leaves and sea shells, resting on a trio of generously out-splayed scrolled legs.
