BIO:

Catherine Ruane O'Connor studied art and received two Master of Fine Arts Degrees, one from San Diego State Univ. and one from Otis-Parsons school of Design. Her interest in art centers on images that entertain and yet hold qualities of fine draftsmanship. She has been impressed and duly influenced by such L.A. artists as Billy Al Bengston and Ed Ruscha who are both known for a slick finished look that eventually became known as "finish fetish".

The bright sunlight of southern California is another influence that repeatedly appears in her work. Metallic powders and pearlescent colors are used in her paintings and prints to simulate the intense light. Her visual statement deals with how light affects what we see. She works with various media including painting, printmaking, and drawing. Catherine's work is included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Canada. See less
