A stunning Nippon porcelain vase with gold Moriage heavily decorated shoulder detailing. The vase has a beautiful hand painted orchid design with bold fuchsia color flowers with yellow accents and lots of strappy green leaves, on a pale blue ground. It has 2 shoulder handles in gold and stands 6 1/4" high x 4" across.
The bottom is back stamped with the 1/4" tall blue maple leaf Nippon stamp signifying that it is an authentic hand painted piece made in Japan and imported between 1891 and 1921.
The Moriage style indicates that the piece referenced the late 19th century interest in Japonisme and the worldwide decorative art interest in exotic designs. These pieces are typical of the objects found in a Victorian or Edwardian home. This vase will add character with a touch of luxury allowing for a fresh nuanced combination with any decor of today.
