A vintage (1950’s) Chinese snuff bottle. Bottle is reverse painted, painted from the inside with a single hairbrush. Image is f Da Yu, a famous philosopher along with a poem. Ancient Chinese philosophers were some of the smartest people in Ancient China. They focused on mainly the role of humans and their place in society, and they were highly respected in Ancient China as they could influence political affairs as well as many other people’s lives with the advice and knowledge that they shared.
Although classified as snuff bottles they were more decorative in use. Measures 3” high and 1 ½” wide.
