Exceptional manta in an amazing coloration with bright natural hand-dyed yarns, densely woven and heavily patterned in hand-spun sheep wool yarns. Woven by the Aymara women in The Andes mountains, a centuries-old tradition. The two narrow panels are woven on a backstrap loom and then whip-stitched together, then the edges are bound. The binding on this piece is exceptionally well done. These can also be called Frazada, in Spanish. But the authentic name is Manta. Both words mean blanket.
I’m not sure of the exact age but the quality indicates it is Vintage. I have owned this piece for over 40 years.
