Measuring 5 inches in diameter and 2 inches high, the bowl features a softly scalloped rim finished in hand-applied gilt. The exterior and interior are richly decorated with a continuous mountainous landscape — pagodas, temple roofs, lakeside dwellings, and autumnal foliage — rendered in warm earthen tones over a luminous ivory crackle glaze.

The raised moriage enamel and delicate gilded outlines create remarkable depth and texture, catching light beautifully against the subtle celadon-green shading of the hillsides. The interior composition is especially refined, with architectural detail and atmospheric mountain forms that echo classical Japanese landscape painting.

The base bears a small red-and-gold square export mark, consistent with Kyoto Satsuma studio production of the Meiji era.

Unlike many decorative export pieces, this bowl retains excellent balance and restraint in its composition. It is equally suitable as a cabinet display object, intimate tea-table accent, or part of a curated Japanese ceramics collection.

Condition: Excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Fine age-appropriate craquelure to glaze, as expected for authentic Satsuma ware. See less
