Circa 1730-40 George II period wine glass. Graceful "Kit-Cat" balustroid form with drawn trumpet bowl, the stem with inverted baluster knop, sitting on a rare conical, high domed foot. Note the thickness for constant rough tavern use (from which the name derives). Associated with the 18th century Whig watering hold & political club, the Kit Kat in London. The club's tavern keeper, Christopher Catt, was famous for his mutton pies known as Kit Cats. 2 5/8" dia. bowl.
