The shepherdess is shown seated with flowers, accompanied by a sheep at her feet.

Hard-paste porcelain with polychrome enamels and gilding, set on a rococo shell-and-scroll base applied with coloured flowers and foliage.

The underside carries a red anchor mark imitating Chelsea, together with a small numeral and a single vent hole typical of French production.

Now widely collected, Samson porcelain is admired for its craftsmanship and historic interpretation. This example stands among the finest pastoral forms produced by the workshop.
