Large Vintage Woven Tapestry "The Holy Family with a Little Bird" After Murillo
This impressive vintage woven wall tapestry is a fine reproduction of the 1650 Spanish Baroque masterpiece, The Holy Family with a Little Bird (Sagrada Familia del pajarito), by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. The scene depicts a tender, domestic moment in Saint Joseph's carpentry workshop, featuring the Child Jesus, the Virgin Mary, and Saint Joseph. The tapestry is rendered in a classic Continental palette of muted ochres, umbers, and soft gold tones. It is housed in a substantial, grand-scale wood frame with an aged gold gilt finish that perfectly complements its Old World religious subject matter.
Dimensions:
Frame: 37.5" H x 26.5" W x 1.5" D
Art (Visible): 33" H x 22" W [
Condition:
Fair to Good vintage condition. The woven tapestry fabric is well-preserved with minor, age-appropriate fading. The large wood frame is sturdy but shows visible surface wear, scratches, and loss to the gold gilt finish (as pictured), which lends the piece an authentic "shabby chic" or antique patina.
A soulful and commanding statement piece for a hallway, library, or bedroom. This large-scale Murillo study brings the timeless warmth of Spanish Baroque art into the contemporary home. Ready to hang and full of historical character.
