Dong Kingman (1911-2000) was a famous Chinese American artist and one of America's leading artists in watercolors. Born in Oakland, California, to an immigrant family from Hong Kong, he was given the name King Man (in Cantonese, they mean "scenery" and "composition") because he aspired to become an artist. He was known as the leading California Style School painter and was famous for his urban and landscape paintings and graphic design work in the Hollywood film industry. His works are included by over 50 public and private collections worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Brooklyn Museum; the deYoung Museum, and the Art Institute, Chicago
