The tops are supported by a custom metal base, which is black in color, with four straight legs and braced with stretchers along three sides at their feet. Note that there is slight variance in heights, which is not noticeable unless placed directly side by side. Petrified wood is a fossil, which over time, becomes so sturdy and dense that it is as heavy as marble. The tables are a wonderful marriage of ancient and new. This pair of polished petrified wood top tables would work well as side or drinks tables within a sitting arrangement. See less
