Antique Victorian Rococco Revival Silverplated Hot Water Tea Urn Samovar w/Spirit Burner
This is a beautiful late 19th century silver plated hot water Samovar urn in a Rococco Revial style with acanthus leaves and scroll details. It features the original alcohol spirit burner and stand on the bottom. This design was popular in the Victorian era (late 19th century) for formal tea service—keeping large volumes of hot water ready without constant reheating on a stove. The burner provided gentle, continuous heat from below. This is unmarked but could possibly be English Sheffield plate or American silver plate like Reed & Barton or Meriden Britannia. Excellent condition, holds water well, no damage. Measures 20" high, 12" wide, and 8" deep. Wear commensurate with age.
